Fine.

Unfortunately, the intro (actually until they arrive at the camp) is a bit long. Lots of climbing and walking in snowy landscapes, with some uninteresting conversations in between. There were some dead animals along the way, but there could have been a bit more variety, after a while I had seen it.

But then the second part begins. The tension rises quickly, as does the body count. The film is a mix of Blair Witch and Bigfoot, so nothing original, but above all it manages to be very effective in building tension. You see just enough to get a good idea of what's going on, but not enough to feel safe for even a second.

It's a bit of a shame that the balance is somewhat lost in this film, but definitely recommended for fans of found footage films. People who don't like it can easily skip this one, because in that area it's just a repetition of moves, but in a slightly different setting, with a slightly different enemy.

3.5*

This is definitely a lame, poorly acted b-movie with annoying found footage, don't watch...

A messy horror thriller in which director Fabien Delage relies primarily on building tension in a cold environment, but unfortunately, this is only partially realized. Cold Ground has a few ominous moments because the sound is cleverly edited under the images, but the antagonist roaming the snowy locations is never threatening. Furthermore, there are far too many characters, none of whom know how to interact, making it all the more unfortunate that you're saddled with them for quite a while before they finally unleash their full potential. In terms of design, this film deserves some points for originality, but at its core, it's just as tired as its peers.
