Mei-deu in Chai-na plot
Chinese eel farmer Chen smuggles himself with his eels into South Korea to prove that the fish are safe for consumption. The persistence wins: after days of posting, he gets an inspector to test the eel. Unfortunately, his eel turns out to be infected. Enamored with Chen's honesty and fairness, qualities she rarely encounters in capitalist South Korean men, the inspector begins a love affair with Chen and also lands him a job as a guard at an eel farm. This soon turns out to be an illegal business where the eels rejected by the inspector are traded.
