Salad Days plot
Salad Days delves into the early 'do it yourself' (DIY) punk scene of Washington, DC in the 1980s. It was the decade when influential bands such as Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Fugazi, Government Issue, Scream (with Dave Grohl) , Rites of Spring, Marginal Man and many others released their own albums and booked their own gigs, with no restrictions from major record labels and any mainstream media attention. It was a cultural phenomenon that paved the way for the alternative music explosion of the 1990s and thirty years later, DC's original DIY punk spirit is still a strong reminder of youth's hopes, community power and power of conviction.
