Ik Hoor Hier Niet Thuis plot
Peter Schuster lives in an institution for the mentally handicapped. He tries to get to grips with his problems by playing drums and piano. Something regularly explodes in his head causing him to lose all control. He is even afraid of himself. He hopes to impress girls outside the institution with his enchanting music. Peter dreams of a loved one from ordinary society. But then the situation changes for everyone. According to the director, hiding the mentally handicapped in the woods must end. Integration is the new credo. New homes will be built so that the mentally handicapped and 'normal people' can live next to each other. Director Mercedes Stalenhoef follows Peter during the seven-year construction process. Peter is initially very happy with the developments, but soon uncertainty, fear and stress arise for him and his fellow group members.
