Oh well, I didn't think it was that bad. He simply reached the level of the previous Ring. Sometimes it was quite exciting and some scenes made me feel cold. Actually this is a bit like Ringu 1.5 because it is a bit of an intermediate story between 1 and 2. But this time you look at it from a different angle and a character who was a friend of Reiko's ex from part 1. What I actually What I didn't really understand was this: Reiko died in this part, but in part 2 (which was made after this film) she is still alive. how does the sequence actually work?

I thought the man who plays the role of Andou played very well and the rest of the acting was also fine. That scene with[ that just after Andou has been watching that tape and then a little later that snow-white, grinning (grinning ghosts are always scary) bends over Andou I got chills for a moment. Well in a few other scenes too. But one thing is no longer really a secret. that film is about Andou in danger of dying because he watched that video, but that was a copy that doesn't kill anyone, that's why he stays alive.

Nevertheless, another very nice Ringu part.

4.0*

An unofficial and indirect sequel to Ringu, where the first part was not convincing (1.5*), this 'sequel' completely misses the point. Even the moment when Andou goes to watch the band, there is nothing scary to be found. It all seems cheesy, and it seems more from the 70s than the 90s at times.

While Japanese horror films do very well mainly in terms of atmosphere, this is very disappointing in this Rasen. There is hardly any Japanese atmosphere, there are virtually no beautiful shots to be found. Not a single scene is remotely interesting. I rarely saw such a boring film as this Rasen.

Those endless conversations over and over again, at one point I started to fast forward, because this wasn't going to work out anymore.

I probably should have ignored Rasen and gone straight to Ring 2. Fortunately, this miserable part did not get a remake in America. Quickly forget this monstrosity.

Rasen was made as a sequel to the previous horror success, but due to the mixed reception it was later decided to make another sequel. The content makes no difference, because the film certainly takes sidetracks towards the second half that make absolutely no sense. You also have to be immune to the fact that many characters that were of great importance in the previous film are more or less completely written out of existence. Director George Iida provides the film with some atmospheric moments and the mysterious first half is quite fascinating, but once the imaginative edges of the story are revealed, the event turns into a kind of parody. It is original to a certain extent, but of course you quickly achieve that with these kinds of far-fetched ideas.
