Am now at episode 14, but am a bit fed up with it all. Also seen enough blood and open wounds. Also just a bit too many coincidences to give it a soapy element.

Looking for a gripping series based on ratings, I started this one. I have to say, the first few episodes were fantastic. A lot happens, and it's all very dynamic in the ER. It immediately shows you what a luxury we have if you're unlucky enough to end up in the emergency room. Fortunately, you don't have to wait for hours in the Netherlands.

After a few episodes, it became a bit much for me. The "developments and learning goals" of the doctors in training, the time spent saying goodbye to the elderly father and the siblings who wouldn't let him go, the 18-year-old boy, and the whole grieving process of the parents in the ER itself. Not really my cup of tea.

A sublime fifteen-part hospital series about a fifteen-hour shift in the emergency room at the Trauma Medical Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It's a kind of "ER on steroids," a quality enhanced by Noah Wyle in the lead role. He's fantastic in this one, by the way, as is the rest of the cast. Here and there, the series borders on the unbelievable—how could it be otherwise, with so much drama and misery crammed into just fifteen hours? But thankfully, the fast pace, the endearing characters, and the intense (and often comical) situations make this hardly a problem. As far as I'm concerned, the genre doesn't get any better than this.
