Zeer mooie, visuele serie over hoe het eerste leven op aarde is ontstaan. Met de nieuwste technologie brengen ze dinosauriërs en andere uitgestorven dieren tot leven. De begeleidende stem van Morgan Freeman is zeer goed gekozen. Als het over mossen en insecten en zo gaat wordt het voor mij persoonlijk een beetje saai. De verschillende massa-extincties komen aan bod met op het einde een apocalyptische waarschuwing dat er weer een massa-extinctie aan de gang is door toedoen van de mens. Zeker de moeite om eens te bekijken.

Very beautiful, visual series about how the first life on earth emerged.

Using the latest technology, they bring dinosaurs and other extinct animals to life.

Morgan Freeman's accompanying voice is very well chosen.

When it comes to mosses and insects and so on, it gets a bit boring for me personally.

The various mass extinctions are discussed, with an apocalyptic warning at the end that another mass extinction is underway due to human actions.

Definitely worth taking a look.

Niet de beste natuurdocu die ooit gemaakt is. Het voortdurende gehop voor- en achteruit in de tijd, vaak met enorme sprongen, maakt het geheel soms wat lastig te volgen. Morgan Freeman is ook niet de meest meeslepende verteller. Sommige zaken worden te veel herhaald, andere juist erg oppervlakkig behandeld. De CGI is van wisselend niveau. Soms erg mooi, maar met name enkele zoogdieren zien er vooral in beweging en in contact met hun omgeving nogal nep uit. Veren blijken ook nog steeds lastig. De echte natuurbeelden daarentegen zijn zonder uitzondering adembenemend. Al met al leuk om eens te zien voor een kernachtig overzicht van de geschiedenis van het leven op aarde.

Not the best nature documentary ever made. The constant hopping forward and backward in time, often with enormous jumps, sometimes makes the whole thing a bit difficult to follow. Morgan Freeman isn't the most compelling narrator either. Some things are repeated too much, others are treated very superficially. The CGI is of varying quality. Sometimes very beautiful, but some mammals in particular look rather fake, especially in movement and in contact with their environment. Feathers still prove to be difficult. The real nature images, on the other hand, are breathtaking without exception. All in all, nice to see for a concise overview of the history of life on Earth.
