Steven Spielberg says he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
The 75-year-old is one of the most successful and celebrated directors in cinema history, having brought us beloved pictures such as Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan.
He is the recipient of two Academy Awards for Best Director for his work on Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan.
Spielberg has directed 33 movies in his career so far, and it seems like that number will continue to grow as he addressed retirement rumours while promoting his latest feature, The Fabelmans.
"This (movie) is not because I'm going to retire and this is my swan song," he said, as reported by Rolling Stone.
"Don't believe any of that."
What is The Fabelmans about?
The Fabelmans is a semi-autobiographical movie based on Spielberg's own life.
It focuses on a young man who dreams of making movies to escape drama within his family life.
"Tony (Kushner, wo-writer) and I started talking about this possibility when we were making Lincoln together," Spielberg revealed.
"Tony kind of performed the function of a therapist and I was patient, and we talked and I talked for a long time. Tony fed me and helped me through this.
"But when Covid hit, we all had a lot of time. And we all had a lot of fear. I don't think anybody knew in March or April 2020 what was going to be the state of the art and the state of life, even a year from then.
"And I think in that sense, I felt as things got worse and worse that I just felt that (my adolescence) is the thing that I really need to resolve and unpack."
The Fabelmans stars Gabriel LaBelle, Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, and Judd Hirsch.
It won the Golden Globe award for Best Drama Motion Picture and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
