Zhat plot

Steppe, Kazakhstan, 1930s. Little Ilyas lives with his father amid famine and terror imposed by the Soviet Union. When his father is killed by the purge, Ilyas, now orphaned, flees to the mountains. There he turns his back on progress and lives with a pack of wolves. He chooses to return to the old way of life, but remains vigilant for the changes that are happening below him.
