Shanghaied Love plot

When 'The Golden Bough' docks in San Francisco, the crew races to escape cruel Captain 'Black Yankee' Angus Swope, who must now search for a new crew. Swope's daughter Mary also goes ashore, ostensibly to shop, but in reality to escape from her father. He plans to marry his daughter to his brash first mate Fitzgibbons. In San Francisco, Maria meets the young sailor John Shreve. But she is followed by her father.
