L'Abbaye du Revoir plot

Jean-Paul Descombes is 50 years old and is a widower and father of two children, Stéphanie and Thomas, aged 23 and 21 respectively. Since the death of his wife 10 years ago, he has a desire to go to the monastery and become a monk and now he decides to do so. This is a huge change in the lives of his children. Thomas in particular feels abandoned by Jean-Paul, who now goes through life as Brother Bernard. One day he receives an invitation from Stéphanie to the christening of her baby. When he goes there and reconnects with his family for the first time in ages, he realizes what his departure has done. Stéphanie never finished her studies and Thomas is in a wheelchair as a result of a motorcycle accident. He has never been able to stomach his father's departure and now thinks about suicide very often. Can Brother Bernard still change the situation?
