Fouron-le-Comte, one of the six villages that was legally annexed to Flanders, but where the inhabitants are French-speaking. Sunday, May 20, 1979. A manifestation of Flemish nationalists is announced for the afternoon. The mounted police know that the region has been under martial law for almost twenty years. The partisan attitude of the police and arbitrary arrests of French speakers are incidents that have happened several times. One of the villagers' spokesmen will meet the King of the Belgians. José, a young farmer, has an appointment with the monarch.
