"Introducing the plans for a new business venture."

Together with some ex-prisoners, Charlie starts organizing the 'biggest traffic jam of the century' that should give them the opportunity to steal a lot of gold. A daring plan, especially since the mafia in the area is in control and unceremoniously destroying any intruder.

This is an absolute classic and imho light years better than the weak remake

Maybe not a movie for everyone but every petrolhead (car enthusiast) MUST see this movie.

Together with "Bullit" and the original version of "Gone in 60 seconds" from 1974 and perhaps "Vanishing point", it is one of the absolute car movie classics ever.

Every petrolhead (car enthusiast) MUST see this movie.

And not just for the minis, the Italian cars are also covered)

It is not without reason that this film is still regularly screened on the big screen in England for real enthusiasts.

The beautiful scenes in the mountains, but also in Rome, give a wonderful atmosphere drawing of the sixties, an atmosphere drawing that also evokes beautiful feelings if you don't like cars by the way.

The story is of course not too heavy, but it can certainly fascinate me and the humor is nice English.

I don't mind the open ending where a number of people complain about this, apparently many are used to a beautifully finished Hollywood ending, but that leaves something to fantasize about.!

An absolute hit for me!

Lighthearted and fun, with Caine as a crook who is really just a hip cat from the swingin' sixties. Nice and short and smooth, with many not yet or only half-known faces in the cast (including my personal favorite Robert Powell) and Noël Coward in his last film role as the icing on the cake. I can understand that people here have trouble with the corniness of the first hour, but once the Minis start rolling, the film as a whole kicks into high gear and I am presented with a hilarious choreography. Delicious, everything really done, no CGI, a crime comedy with a slender figure and not an ounce of fat.

Hang on a minute, lads. I've got a great idea....er...er...

Oh dear! This one was colored by youth sentiment and nostalgia into something better than really the case. Yet the too smooth remake with Norton and Wahlberg can't match this cheerful and colorful original, which undeniably has a lot to notice.

Negative is surely the unadulterated piece of English patriotism that comes from the film and especially Mr. Bridger radiates. A serious or self-critical middle finger, who knows? Then there is the rather long run-up to the job with, for example, Croker's escapades. Not all that necessary you would say. And then the sometimes jolly atmosphere, which I don't take too seriously, but someone else might. They are only things that should be seen especially in the time frame of '69.

Once on site, The Italian Job thunders past you. The squat is as brilliantly conceived as it is executed. The pursuit with the Minis is of course iconic. The preparations with the jammers are humorous, just like the traffic jam caused. More people von Smallhausen recognized in the control room? Benny Hill is of course great as a pervert with an eye for more meat, and so it turns out The Italian Job has more than I thought on the way. The ending, which was sometimes misunderstood when I saw the film 25 years ago, fits perfectly into the not-too-serious image.

It made The Italian Job a stylish and above all cheerful film where you can also enjoy many beautiful cars, the fun final phase and an excellent Michael Caine. Still tastier and more fun than it seemed while watching.
