When wealthy Elliot Burgess shoots successful writer Austin Blair in broad daylight and then turns the gun on himself, everyone wants to know why. Young journalist David Leader investigates and becomes fascinated by Emma, Elliot's sister. The story seems to fall into his lap when he gets his hands on Elliot's personal, recorded story and afterwards also receives several tapes. As Leader seems to get closer to this family's deepest secret, he's also increasingly attracted to the mysterious Emma. Then it remains difficult to remain objective...
