A relatively unknown film by Vicente Aranda. Not surprising, because it's not a good movie. Released five years after Franco's death, but his ghost is still everywhere. An old Falangist, a fascist in other words, looks back on his life and his ideals. But fascism is out of fashion. So too were the ideals of the time. Although we don't get to know much about it. It's mainly about his failed love life. And all that in complicated sentences. Aranda wants to tell too much and shows too little.

And then a nice cousin comes to visit, with a girlfriend dressed as a boy, who have a great time together, because Aranda always puts a lot of sex in his films. Nothing wrong with that, although it is not too bad in this film. The nice niece is Victoria Abril whose small breasts we are often treated to. She has come to seduce her uncle. So a full movie. With a lot of text and little depth and little coherence. And who that niece really is, you can see coming a mile away.
